About Us
This Polytechnic is a Government Institution for Women's situated in Shiralakoppa and was established in the year 2008.The famous Balligavi temple is located just 2 km away from Shiralakoppa. Balligavi is a small historical place known for splendid archaeological stone sculptured temples with thousands of years of history. Uduthadi the birthplace of AkkaMahadevi is located just 4 kms from Shiralakoppa. The Institution is located in a sprawling campus of 5 acres.
We are Government Women’s polytechnic situated in rural area in Shimoga district and it is 75 KMs away from Shimoga. We are responsible for improving the quality technical education in the area along with women empowerment. We are from birth place of the great social reformer Akka Mahadevi, great role model for women empowerment.
The college provides technical education mainly to rural and economically backward students and has an enrolment of 252 students every year offered centralized admission by DTE & KEA and presently 326students pursuing various Diploma courses. We have a faculty comprising 22 teaching staff including, Sl. grade Lecturers, & Lecturers. The classes are held at our own Government building.
The Polytechnic is wholly run by the Government of Karnataka and comes under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education. This is a newly started institution and is a recipient of various projects like State Government Finances / Women’s Hostel from MHRD etc.
